Nordgold’s Lefa to build new Nafa centre in Tomba Kansa village, Guinea

Nordgold’s Lefa will invest 1,020,000,000 GNF (approximately US$ 120,000) in construction of a new educational Nafa Centre in Tomba Kansa village, in the Republic of Guinea, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.

Nafa Centres are part of a large-scale government initiative aimed to empower Guinean women and youth. The Nafa Centre in Tomba Kansa will become a third major social facility built by Nordgold in Guinea in addition to the High School of Lero and Modern Vocational School of Siguirini with total investment exceeding US$ 550,000.

Tomba Kansa village is located a short distance from Nordgold’s Lefa mine, one of the country’s largest gold producers and an important contributor to the region’s economic and social development. Once constructed and equipped, the new educational facility will provide vocational training to women and youth of the sub-prefectures of Siguirini, Tombakansa, Banora and Maléah. This will, in turn, provide new professional development opportunities to the local residents and improve their employment prospects.
