Nordgold’s Bissa strengthens rescue team with 99 new first aiders
13 December 2022
Nordgold Group («Nordgold» or the «Company»), an internationally diversified gold producer, is pleased to announce that its Bissa mine in Burkina Faso has launched a new training programme in first aid for its employees to strengthen the mine’s emergency-response readiness.
Both the theoretical and practical parts of the training were delivered on site by the mine’s health and safety professionals and firefighters. In the first wave of the programme, 99 employees from geology, mining, mobile maintenance, plant, and supporting departments were certified as first aiders. They are now prepared to save lives in emergency situations.
"By involving the workers in this programme, we ensure that in an emergency situation, we have a rescuer who will be able to perform first aid immediately. When it comes to emergencies, time matters. We must give ourselves the means to act as quickly as possible".
