Irokinda Mine Upgrades Maintenance and Repair Workshops

London, United Kingdom, 1 October 2021 – Nord Gold plc ("Nordgold" or the "Company"), the internationally diversified gold producer, has completed an upgrade of the maintenance and repair workshops at its Irokinda mine in Russia.

Irokinda Mine is an underground gold mine located in the Republic of Buryatia, in the Russian Federation. High-quality maintenance and repair of the mining fleet and auxiliary equipment is key to ensuring the safe and high productivity levels of the operations.

The 12.8 million ruble (US$175,000) investment enabled an important upgrade of the facilities, including new underfloor inspection pits, mobile pneumatic oil and grease dispensers, modernisation and retrofitting of new robust industrial units, as well as investment in new specialised tools. A point-corrugated pipe fume exhaust has also been installed to increase the safety of operations in the workshop.

“These important equipment and facility upgrades support the efficient running of our operations, while also improving safety. Providing a safe, attractive working environment equipped with modern, high end, best in class tools also has a direct positive impact on employee engagement. Our investment in maintenance and repair facilities will continue in 2022.” Anton IsakovGeneral Manager of the Irokinda mine

In 2022, the mine plans to invest a further 8 million rubles (over US$100.000) in a further upgrade of the maintenance and repair workshops including the planned installation of an overhead crane with a lifting capacity of 5 tonnes. The crane will enable engineers to remove and install fully assembled motors with their mountings. A mobile telfer crane with a lifting capacity of 2 tonnes with a reduced construction depth is also planned, which will allow faster and more accurate repairs to be carried out at the bench.
