Nordgold to Develop Safety Improvement Roadmap with DuPont Sustainable Solutions
London, United Kingdom, 6 August 2021 – Nord Gold plc ("Nordgold" or the "Company"), the internationally diversified one million ounce gold producer, has invited DuPont Sustainable Solutions (“DSS”), a world-class operations management consulting firm, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the safety culture of the Company’s operations.
DSS will also support the leadership in developing a risk-based roadmap to deliver a sustained risk reduction and improved safety performance of more than 8,000 of Nordgold employees and contractors.
The project is a part of Nordgold’s global Technical Excellence (TEX) programme aimed at improving processes, systems and employee skills to successfully align them with industry best practices throughout the entire value chain, including ESG processes.
In 2020 Nordgold significantly improved its safety performance, achieving zero employee fatalities and decreasing Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) to 0.14 in 2020 compared with 0.33 in 2019. Nordgold will now work with DSS to further progress a step change in the level of adoption and effectiveness of the current safety management programmes and safety culture to sustain this strong safety performance.
The assessment of safety culture maturity (based on the DSS Bradley Curve model) will cover all Nordgold’s mines and include documentation reviews, interviews, field visits and focus groups. Based on the assessment DSS will support the Company’s leadership in developing a 3-year safety improvement roadmap and HSE competency model for management and supervisors.
