Nordgold Automates Laboratory Testing in the Gross Region

London, United Kingdom, 22 July 2021 – Nord Gold plc ("Nordgold" or the "Company"), the internationally diversified gold producer, has completed the deployment of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) at its operations in the world class, highly prospective Gross Gold Mining Region in the southwestern part of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia, Russia), after a successful pilot exercise. The implementation of LIMS will increase productivity and enhance the accuracy of Nordgold’s laboratory testing and reporting by automating the collection, analysis and storage of laboratory data.

The Gross region comprises the current flagship Gross mine, as well as the Taborny mine and the Tokko development project. Nordgold has established a significant footprint in the region which provides a solid foundation of current performance and future low cost growth. Up to 700 geological samples from Gross and Taborny mines are processed daily in the Region’s laboratory to measure gold grade in ore from the deposits. The laboratory also analyses 450–600 samples taken from the Gross and Taborny mine’s processing facilities. The laboratory also serves the Tokko development project. In addition, the laboratory is involved in environmental monitoring, monitoring the quality of drinking and natural water, wastewater, outdoor air and the air in the operational area of the processing facilities.

“By integrating LIMS software with measuring devices, we can obtain and report reliable information from our testing processes quickly and accurately, enabling us to make prompt decisions on streamlining operations at virtually any stage of the production chain at the Region’s operations. In addition, the system keeps records of equipment, personnel, regulatory documentation, reagents and standard samples. As all processes are automated, this improves the efficiency of laboratory management, simplifies our employees’ work and thereby increasing the laboratory capacity.” Anastasiya ChernykhHead of the Laboratory

More than four million roubles (US$ 50,000) have been invested in the automation of the Gross laboratory.

All of the laboratory’s employees have received the required training and are successfully using this world-class solution in their daily operations.
